First off, there's an obvious trend within art and design portfolio websites in which all the links are on the left and the image or piece of art appears in the middle of the site when a link is selected. I noticed this trend after Rudy showed me a number of beautiful yet simple portfolio sites last semester.
Turns out they are all using this pre-made interface here: Indexhibit.org.
An example of this implemented can be seen at: J-Trav's Portfolio
Secondly, I noticed that Pitchfork had an awesome design for their multi-media section of their website. It's incredibly long and you scroll left to right to get to different pages rather than hitting links that take you to seperate sites.
Check it out here: Pitchfork TV
And it's really nice looking too!
