Welcome to the Graphic Design Program!

Hi all!

I am very excited to be beginning this class with your new group of BFA Graphic Design majors (and MFA too, in Katia's case). I hope you are looking forward to our class as well. It will be challenging if you are new to web design, animation, and Actionscript, but by the time you are done, you will have some cool multimedia projects to add to your portfolio.

This class is definitely challenging, because most of you will be growing accustomed to using new software, which can be stressful. Even though you will be expected to make things work technically, I still expect your design skills to be as impressive as what you showed us in your entrance review! Just because you were accepted into the program does not mean it is time to coast; in fact, now you'll need to focus and work harder than before. It will be a different work load than last year, but if you use the time in class wisely, and schedule your work time outside of class, you should be just fine.

Just FYI, I do not know everything about Multimedia, and sometimes you might ask me something that I do not know how to answer; however, I always will work with you to find a solution that will make your project work. By helping you learn, I always learn a lot as well!

In closing, let me just say I look forward to working with each one of you, and getting to know you more over the coming year. I have taught several of you, but not all. If you have any questions, please let me know. My office hours are T/TH 9:30-10:45 AM, and before this class. I can also meet at other times by appointment. My office is in the 468 Graphic Design lab.

Take care, and have a great semester! :)
