Stefan Sagmeister is a renowned designer, especially in the realm of music and culture. His designs for Album/CD packaging are stunning and inspiring. The site for his design firm (NYC) is striking and unconventional. Check it out. It makes me rethink the direction for my own site and be free to explore a bit more. He also includes a Q and A section with areas for design students, how-to's on running a firm and typography and other topics where they have experience.
