Stop Motion Videos

So these are some videos I have been looking at to do for the multimedia presentation. I really like the idea of something going on an adventure. It seems like taking an object and moving it through different environments can lend itself to some interesting stories and be visually stimulating.

Animation Movie

I think this is an awesome animation film coming out soon...sooo cute!

Animation Videos

I really like this video for the build up and then the basic drawing animation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWrhrrF-em0

This next video I really enjoyed for the mixed media aspect. I like how it is an animation but has a human apart of the script to almost show how much of a story it is.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=zsELXlALTak

Finally, this video is my favorite for the continuation style that goes on. I like how there is one element that is semi constant and then the rest of the story moves around. I think this is the style I want to embody for my animation.

Don't blink! Thrillingly Bizarre!

The Japanese Popstars Feat. Green Velvet - Let Go from David Wilson Creative on Vimeo.

My word, It's Moving

Nice short flash animation, but it's in Hebrew
Same artist as before, I really dig his animation style.

This Is a stop motion that everyone should watch. This guy incorporates the entire setting into his animation. It's kind of creepy but very well done.

I don't know if anyone has posted this, but I absolutely love this.

Illustration Animations

I really enjoying watching illustrative animations or motion graphics, here are some examples.

i love how they use illustrations and real life images together.

Loved the song, thought the video was pretty cool

I thought the morphing of the animals into the following sequence was really unique

another great song paired with fantastic visuals

somewhat related but very cool to look at nonetheless

I actually found this flash animation back in 2007. I like it because it's so short and simple, yet still hilarious, and I can't stop watching it without replaying it at least once.

I'm sorry for people who don't know Japanese (which I'm assuming includes most of you guys), but I really like how they combined animation with kinetic typography in this music video.

-----

This is a video reel that my friend who graduated from SCAD made that supposedly shows most of his college and internship works. I thought that it may be interesting for people who were curious of what students at SCAD do. He majored in motion graphics if you couldn't tell.

I am really bad with videos. Actually not sure if i am bad because i have never tried any of the programs. Those are some that i found and i like. They seems so different from each other and cool :)

Cool animation videos

This Flash based cartoon (Homestar Runner) is an old favorite of mine. The animators do a really good job of capturing the mood and personality of the characters.

I found this one and posted it obviously because I am a drummer but also because the creator did a good job of moving the character naturally. He can look a little stiff at times but other than that I think its great.

Animated Videos--some inspiration

I really love this  JUSTICE video and song it's kinda old, but it is a great example of animation. I really like that the animation because it is used within real life and it's interactive instead of  just 2D..

Here is another example, it is CHROMEO's video for Momma's Boy...I love the illustrative quality of this animation (it really reminds me of comic books)...and the simplicity of everything.

This one is pretty funny I like this style because it's very playful and colorful.

Avett Brothers Amination

I don't really watch music videos; actually I rarely browse YouTube at all. Anyway, I decided to just check out some videos from some of my favorite bands, and I happened upon this little video.

I think its great.....but I was talking to my friend, and would this even be considered an animation? At least, one in the sense of what this class is looking for...because this seems to be a painting, photographed in intervals?...

If this doesn't count, here:

A perfectly 2-D, slightly humorous, within our range, animation.

Animation Inspiration

Tame Impala "Half Full Glass of Wine"

Definitely one of my favorite bands--such an awesome, authentic retro sound.. lots of classic rock influences. After falling in love with the group at Album 88, I began searching for them on youtube. All of their videos are sick, this one is particularly inspiring. LOVE the concept and vibes. I'm not sure if my 30 second animation will be this amazing but it certainly gives me something to aspire to. The video is done by a group called 'Special Problems'. I found their website and discovered all sorts of insanely amazing videos. Check it out:

I recommend checking out all of them, but this next one seemed particularly relevant to our upcoming project.

David Dallas ft. Ratatat "Til Tomorrow"

Ratatat never lets you down.. love love love this. The animation is so well done!

Use any font on your website!

This website gives you the code to use any font on your website,,, not just the basic standard fonts that html lets you use.

There is a free version, but you have to have their logo on your site. And then there are other packages starting at $25/year

lissaexplains.com

I know this site is completely cheesy, but I just wanted to share it. This is the site I used to learn some simple HTML in highschool when I wanted to make my own website.

I'm sure theres a lot of amazing dreamweaver tutorials, but if you want to go even deeper and learn how the code works, and also learn basic questions about websites in general, it has a lot of information that is SUPER EASY to understand. I think its a good point to start out at when starting to build your website!

Inspired Direction for Music Video

Doing some more research and note taking for my music video. For the song Sybil's, I was thinking of using shapes to detail the story of what's going on. Exactly what happens in the video, I am still conceptualizing.

As I continue to listen and imagine, two animation projects I have adored came to mind. The first, The Dot and The Line, directed by Chuck Jones. While the narration did give some emotion to the characters, the colors, movement, and direction, made the animation a masterpiece. It's inspiring me to go for abstract shapes and to try to give them emotion rather than relying on facial expressions and full figured movements.

The second animation was featured in Fantasia 2000, called Rhapsody in Blue. It was directed by Eric Goldberg (supervising animator for the Genie, Phil from Hercules, and Louis from The Princess and the Frog) with advisement from legendary cartoonist Al Hirschfeld (Paige, this is the same guy who inspired me for my book cover in your intro class). The storytelling of different people desiring simple things in life, and taking the risks to do it, adds a huge splash with the music. The color schemes and character designs are gorgeous, seeing them move as shapes, not lines. Not to mention that the setting is in the city, and I think that might play a role for my animation. We'll see.

I'm going to storyboard this weekend, and have it ready for Monday.

VIDEOS I LIKE

I'll keep updating the list.

LOVE the style of this video. Would work really well with my Eddie Vedder song:

Olney Clark- "Josefin the Writer" from Hanaé Seida on Vimeo.

LA CASA - LA LUNE - OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO from alexandre saltiel on Vimeo.

SONGS I LIKE

Possible choices for the music video. Still updating and deciding...

one of my top choices... would love to use a concept using a map, and taking the animation from there.

My Song... ?

Tori is the greatest, so I was searching through her albums to find a good song to choose. This is not my absolute favorite by her, but I feel it is quirky enough and has abstract lyrics that could make for a good video clip.

As far as the look of my video clip, I want to layer objects in space, stacked on top of each other and move the camera through the environment. Maybe something similar to these...

My Inspiration

For some reason I love, love, love this song and I think they matched it well to in the movie the Watchmen. I would say its between this and Kanye West- Jesus Walks

Bob Marley- No Woman No Cry

i love the melody of this song and I think it would be very interesting to make a video that matches.

Kanye West-Jesus Walks

Music Video Inspiray-she-on

I like how a lot of the toys and lights synch up to the music and also the camera movement. The feel of the nostalgic toys fits really well with the sound.

I like the storybook quality of Modest Mouse's video, kind of whimsical.

While The Used annoys the crap out of me, their video is pretty cool.

And it would be soooo much fun to make a video like this...

I want to make some kind of stop animation video, either with paper collage or photography. I think I am going to do it to either Dog Days are Over from Florence + The Machine or Blackbird from The Beatles.

I like the info-graphics feel of this one ^^^^^^^

Music Video Inspirations

(none of these videos above are songs I plan to do for a music video)

I don't really get into music videos that much (I still haven't seen Thriller after all these years), but the ones that do grab my attention are those with a nice direction and drive. A nice story line as well. One group that does it well is Gorillaz, they always come out with something interesting and surprising. So we'll see what happens this coming Wednesday.

See you then.

Music Video Inspiration

I would like to use one of these video concepts with Black Eyed Peas "The Time", Far East Movement "G6", Will I Am ft. Nicki Minaj "Check it Out" Kesha's Blah Blah, or Christina Aguilera's Bobblehead.
