For some reason, I've never noticed this before (maybe because I don't use it often enough), but Illustrator is apparently notorious for turning certain effects (such as inner glow and drop-shadow) into raster graphics, which can really pixelate (and ruin) your beautiful vector graphic. Although I've tried to convert it by changing the DPI, I still can't seem to get rid of the pixelation without completely rebuilding my graphic.
